Our design philosophy is informed by permaculture and a sensitivity to the visual impact of plant and hardscape selections. Applying principles from the plant community and companion planting approaches, we group together plants that are adapted to similar soil conditions and microclimate, have similar water requirements, and benefit from growing near each other. Further, our specialty is landscaping by disturbing the soil as little as possible, reusing materials found on site or purchasing reclaimed materials, and creating gardens that conserve water and provide habitat for wildlife, while growing into their beauty.

Our services typically start with a garden visit, which includes a discussion with you about your garden priorities, constraints, assets and potential. From this consultation, we develop a professional design and a garden plan, detailing the tasks and the budget to accomplish your priorities. This step includes a comprehensive plant selection list and a maintenance plan that will ensure your garden continues to thrive. The garden plan may also include a sketch of the current conditions and the proposed design improvements, and is a great way to document the evolution of your garden.
